India's Welding Industry - Soldering A Solid Future
The new liberalization policies of the Government of India have marked a steady growth of the Indian economy. Various industries, including infrastructure, oil and gas, automobiles etc., have largely been benefited as a result of this. Welding is a process used in almost all these industries and thus, in turn has a secured future.
The Indian Welding industry is estimated at around Rs. 11 billion and the welding consumable segment - basically Welding Electrodes, account for 70 to 75 % of the market.
In India, the organized sector of the welding industry has only a few major players, but the unorganized or small-scale sector account for almost 50% of the Indian welding market.
Though manual welding techniques account for 80% of the Indian market, the automation sector is also gaining popularity. In India automatic/automated welding involving repeated welding operations with sufficient economies of scale. There is an increased use of automation, and awareness of product quality.
The number of Gas pipeline projects announced by the Government of India are expected to boost the demand for welding products
Imports are mainly specialised welding products and recently low cost imports have started flowing into the market.
Essen Welding India 2005
The first edition of ESSEN WELDING INDIA held in Hyderabad in February 2003 attracted 5807 trade visitors from 27 countries. Spread over an area of 5500 sqm., 120 companies participated in the show besides India there was a group participation from Germany and individual countries like UK, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, Romania, France, USA and Holland participated. New product launches and displays of latest technologies were some of the highlights of the show.
The concurrent conference held by Indian Welding Society attracted a large number of delegates covering all user industries. The deliberations at the conference were very productive and cemented positive business developments in this industry segment in India.
The second edition of ESSEN WELDING INDIA is going to cover a wider spectrum. To be held concurrent to Tube India International 2005, ESSEN WELDING INDIA 2005 will be a gathering of all major welding companies from the sub-continent and overseas. It is the premier meeting place for technologists and decision makers from the welding and allied industries.
